Fundamentals of Therapy

Fundamentals of Therapy by Rudolf Steiner and Ita Wegman

Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925) in conjunction with Ita Wegman (1876–1943), wrote this classic introduction to alternative medicine, intended to help revitalize the healing arts through spiritual knowledge. Without dismissing or underrating modern medicine, it is an attempt to extend the approach of allopathic medicine beyond its present materialistic outlook to a fuller view of the human condition. Steiner and Dr. Wegman felt “it was important to add to existing knowledge the insights that can come from true perception of the spirit, enabling us to understand the processes of illness and healing.”

Anthroposophical medicine is based on occult notions and draws on Steiner’s spiritual philosophy, which he called anthroposophy. Practitioners employ a variety of treatment techniques based upon anthroposophic precepts, including massage, exercise, counselling, and substances.
